Super-bloom of desert flowers (including poppies!) at Anza Borrega, California; captured with 70mm DSLR lens.
I’m trying to escape winter (I know, it’s almost ironic to those of you in snow that a soCal girl says this), and started looking at my spring flower pictures. We had a fabulous super-bloom of desert flowers in 2019. I’ve included a couple of those pictures in anticipation of our upcoming bloom, as well as one California poppy that I recently found, to my delight, which I am using for Cee’s photo challenge – Flower of the Day (FOTD).

Timing is everything! Desert flowers bloom early, often before the first day of spring, which is just around the corner for the southwest.
I am a professional proofreader (ProofreadingatDawn.com) and write a photography blog (PeacefulatDawn.com). In my free time, I love taking photos, admiring beautiful moments in nature, and I will often be out early in the morning or late in the evening trying to capture the peacefulness and beauty around me.

I think the winter deluge we had actually contributed to the spring bloom. Either way, can’t wait!
