Male Rufous hummingbird guards his corner of paradise at the San Diego Zoo, California.

Sometimes the littlest creatures at the zoo, who live outside the cages and enclosures, are the most intriguing. This tiny male Rufous hummingbird has staked a claim to an entire corner of the Africa Rocks entrance at the San Diego Zoo, chasing away other hummingbirds who dare to approach. He’s got plenty of flowers feed from and pollinate.
