Spring Has Arrived

Southern California has seen a LOT of rain and cold weather this year–and more snow than ever!

I am very happy to see the sun and spring finally arriving here. Naturally, I took a drive out to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in search of a super-bloom after all of that rain and snow. I am either too late or too early (there’s still snow on surrounding peaks), because I did not see the amount of flowers that have been here in previous super-blooms. Fortunately, the weather was amazing and there were plenty of flowers to take a peek at.

Desert flowers are a favorite with the bees this spring.

Delicate blue, purple, and white flowers cover the desert floor, with an occasional smooth desert dandelion peeking through.

Of course, it wouldn’t be spring without the mention of flowers in peeking out in my own yard. While it’s not a carpet of flowers, I have some tiny, random flowers coming up. I think these seem new to me because this is the most rain my yard has seen since I’ve moved here.

With an occasional rain storm this spring, we are graced with rainbows and a peek of green buds on some of the trees.

And because of Terry’s Sunday Stills theme this week, I’ll leave you with one of the cutest spring babies peeking out…
