I love spending as much time as possible at the beach. Crystal Cove State Beach is one of my favorite beaches in Southern California, because it is full of wildlife and is (usually) very peaceful.

My husband and I have taken our children here over the years, letting them explore the tide pools. Unfortunately, over time, these tide pools have become more and more barren. When my children were little, we could often find sea urchins, sea stars, and sea hares. The tide pools were full of life. While the tide pools are devoid of these creatures most days now, I still enjoy taking peaceful walks along the beach and exploring the area.
It can be very restorative for the soul to just walk along the cliffs and look out to sea. Even if the tide pools look different, the area is still teeming with wildlife. I always catch a glimpse of dolphins, an occasional harbor seal, and sometimes, whales. There are plenty of birds, including pelicans and ospreys.

One just has to stop and take the time to appreciate the surrounding beauty in order to feel at peace with nature.
