CFFC – SquareOdds and Thursday Trios: Animals

I am sharing a collection of animals–some odd, some just a trio of animals–that I have observed around southern California for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge (CFFC), Becky’s Square Odds, and Mama Cormier’s Thursday Trios. The photo at the top of the blog is an American Coot, which I thought had really odd feet (with three front toes!).

Three giraffes are being checked out by staff at the San Diego Safari Park, including the newest baby, which I was delighted to see after the sad news of a male baby lost the week before. It looks like this baby was just born, based on the blood on mom’s hind legs and the baby’s umbilical cord. One photo does look a little odd with just an empty truck and three giraffes.

Here’s an odd couple:

Zookeepers will often partner a puppy with an orphaned cheetah cub. The two girls above were raised together. Having the dog around helps the zookeepers to train the cheetah.

Sea Pickle at Crystal Cove State Beach in California–yes, it is an animal (well, a colony of animals).

By-the-Wind Sailor at Crystal Cove State Beach, California–yes, it is an animal, often mistaken for a jellyfish.

I am an avid nature and ecology lover and enjoy sharing my photography in my blog writings. I will often be out early in the morning or late in the evening with my camera, trying to capture the peacefulness and beauty around me.

    1. The sea pickles seem to show up in batches. Some days, the beach will be covered in them.
I love the baby giraffe and rhino. I was lucky enough to have a table at a restaurant overlooking the area and spent a couple hours watching them and taking a lot of photos. 🤓🤓
