Lens Artists Photo Challenge #353: Stormy Conditions

Beth is up this week for Lens Artists Photo Challenge #353 – Stormy. I often brag about our perfect weather at the beach — but I have lived in plenty of places with storms, especially the desert. We had some fantastic sunsets, but I don’t missing cleaning up after the monsoons.

This next storm is just a “mild” rain shower compared to the Arizona storms, but it created some interesting lighting over the mountains at Anza Borrego State Park.

Sometimes, we get storms in California. While some of us are trying to figure out how to function (thinking about our drivers!) in it, these surfers don’t seem to mind it at all.

If we are lucky, we also get rainbows with these storms. I don’t normally like my passenger-princess point-of-view snapshots from behind the windshield, but I liked the vibrant yellow jeep in front of us with the rainbow overhead. This was on our way to the North Shore in Oahu — beautiful road in between all the pineapple fields.

I hope everyone is having a peaceful week. No storms on the horizon for our long weekend here!

  1. I enjoyed your series of ‘stormy’ weather, especially the image with the surfers.

I think it makes all the difference taking photos with just a couple of people in the distance or walking along an empty beach. The images are so much more interesting (to me).

      1. You’re welcome! I can see why your husband would want a Jeep! The drives would be so fun with all the beautiful trees. and the ocean views. Hawaii is a wonderful place for bright colors. When I’m there, I get encouraged to wear bright colors…something I don’t normally do.

  2. Dawn, thank you so much for joining the stormy challenge! I really enjoyed your gallery of stormy images. I love the first one of the person walking on the beach with the storm clouds and the rainbow with the yellow jeep. Well done!

  3. Your stormy clouds really capture the dramatic colors so unique to each weather event. Hawaii is the king of beautiful clouds and rainbows. Gorgeous photos!
